QAV America Light Update — 06 July 2026

Happy Monday (Australian time), QAV America.

And welcome to all of our new members.

In Australia we are kicking off our new Financial Year after a very successful year for QAV’s portfolios. In the United States, you are kicking off your 251st year as an independent nation. What will happen? Will the AI bubble finally crash? Or will it continue to bubble? Nobody knows. Whatever happens, we just keep following our rules. We follow our system — buy when it tells us to buy, sell when it tells us to sell, and ignore the noise.  

Market This Week (S&P 500)

• June jobs report (released Thu Jul 2) came in soft: +57,000 payrolls vs. ~113–115k expected, breaking a three-month hot streak.
• Unemployment ticked down to 4.2%, but largely because labour-force participation fell to ~61.5% (lowest since 2021), not from strength.
• The weak jobs print reinforced expectations the Fed holds rates steady at 3.50–3.75% (it last held on June 17, its fourth straight hold).
• The Dow hit a fresh record, up ~1.1% (~600 pts) Thursday, led by financials and comms.
• Chip stocks had their worst two-day skid in weeks, the PHLX Semiconductor Index fell ~6% Thursday, after reports Anthropic is exploring its own AI chip with Samsung.
• Tesla fell as much as ~8.3% intraday despite beating Q2 delivery estimates (480,126 vehicles), a “sell the news” reaction.
• Context: US indices closed out their best quarter since 2020; S&P 500 up ~9.4% and Nasdaq ~12.5% for the first half of 2026.

Our QAV America Light portfolio is up 6.51% all time against the S&P 500’s 8.79%, so the index has the edge on us at this stage, but we’re still in early days and the whole point of this exercise is to beat the market over the long run, not just in any given snapshot.

2. You can copy our trades, but please remember to review our Trading Guidelines to understand which cap you should be looking at and other important considerations. And consult a financial planner before making any decisions.
3. We don’t recommend that you add stocks which are already in our portfolio. Their position on our buy list might have changed since we recommended them. Just start with the stocks recommended after you become a member.
4. If one of the stocks we add breaches one of our sell conditions, we will sell it from our portfolio and you’ll get an email advising of the trade. Again, you can copy our trades, but seek financial advice before making any decisions. And please check your Rule #1 price (see Trading Guidelines).
